Illini Brews and Vines

As you may know, craft beers are increasing at a rapid rate throughout the country. In San Diego County this phenomenon is accelerating so fast, that the county is considered to be in first place by some experts.  Your Illini Club will help you enjoy this trend by scheduling a number of events at local breweries, as well as an occasional vineyard. Come join the fun with your fellow Illini.

Our premiere event will be at the renowned and conveniently located Green Flash Brewery. We will meet at 6550 Mira Mesa Boulevard in the Mira Mesa area on Friday, February 22 at 5:30pm. A private tour will begin at precisely 6:00pm for those who wish to see the Green Flash facility and operations after which we will have our included beer tastings. Cost of the tour including four generous 4 oz. tastings is $5.50. Please go to the ‘Merchandise Bar’ when you arrive and ask where the Illini are gathering. Then get an Illini name tag once you find the Illini group. We are limited to 30 people for the tour so please sign up below  to ensure your spot.

We have two options for food. We will be making reservations at the nearby Karl Strauss Brewery at 8:00pm. Karl Strauss is located at 9675 Scranton Rd. in Sorrento Valley. Another option is to dine at the infamous “food truck” de jour if you wish to do so. What is offered at the usually gourmet food trucks is ‘darn good’ food at a reasonable price, but which truck is unknown until just prior to the event. Those who go on for dinner at Karl Strauss will have their choice of the regular menu and will be pay individually.

The Green Flash Brewery and the Illini Club will need a count . We will also need the numbers for knowing how many reservations to make at Karl Strauss. Therefore, sign up by Monday, February 18^th on the following three:

1.    Number in your party to meet at 5:30 for tasting?

2.    Number who will take the tour at 6:00?

3.    Number who would like dinner at 8:00 for Karl Strauss?
